We were very blessed and fortunate to be in Malaysia during the time to have this extraordinary experience. we cruised down the straits of Malacca that separates Indonesia from Malaysia, and then we arrived sometime later. We had no idea what this adventure would entail. Lo and behold when we arrived, we had awakened the only living creature on this rare piece of land in the middle of the Malacca straits, and he was not pleased that we had awakened him. However, being from Brooklyn, New York, and El Centro, California. We were ready for him.
It was an extraordinary experience and a must when coming to Malaysia.
The capital city Kuala Lumpur has many hidden secret gems. Today we visited an area identified by “nothing good happens in this alley.” we had a great time.
There are incredible murals that have a QR code. When you scan the QR code, you can hear what the people painted in the murals are saying or thinking.
For the shopaholic in most of us, we found our heartthrob in Chinatown. Luckily, our airplane had a maximum weight allowance so we could only look and weep that we couldn’t take these treasures back to the US.
Kuala Lumpur had the tallest building in the world until Dubai built the Burj Khalifa. However, Burj Khalifa is one building that allows Lumpur Malaysia to be able to maintain the bragging rights to have the tallest twin towers in the world. Kula Lumpur, a city of immense cultural wealth, boasts a unique blend of gastronomy, architecture, and tradition. I was fortunate enough to enjoy a meal at the same restaurant as Anthony Bourdain in Kula Lumpur and have a firsthand experience of this gastronomical delight.

This city is a must-see if you want to experience the richness and the heartbeat of Southeast Asia. Very diverse and very forward-thinking. The Malaysian hospitality is felt everywhere you go.
In Kuala Selangor, we took a chill evening sail down the Straits of Malacca, where we got up close and personal with some majestic eagles and watched them soar. More magic happened when we disturbed the algae in the water and it glowed a stunning blue! They called it the Blue Tear Tour, but I called it amazing. For dinner, we dined at Quantizing Hua Seafood restaurant and tried some crazy new Malaysian dishes. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I was pleasantly surprised.!
Sarawak
Our journey to Mulu, a UNESCO site in Sarawak, was an enriching experience that allowed us to explore the vast and pristine rainforest via long boats and engage with the native culture at the
local markets featuring handmade items. We also we also able to witness the magnificent spectacle of millions of bats emerging from the caves for their nightly feeding. Later we walked on the world’s longest tree-based canopy skywalk, providing a unique perspective on the rainforest’s diverse ecosystem. No visit to Mulu would be complete without a massage.
